Experience

Afaf is Of Counsel in the firm’s New York offices. Afaf is an experienced litigator who has successfully defended national and local construction and electrical contractors, real estate developers, and property managers in the defense of catastrophic injury cases arising from construction accidents, products and premises defects. Afaf has experience in New York State Labor Law litigation.

Afaf has successfully managed and handled complex professional liability and medical malpractice cases.  Her efforts have led to numerous pre-trial dismissals by summary judgment motion and defense verdicts at trial. Afaf has handled cases involving catastrophic injury and other substantial damages claims, and has represented construction contractors, physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes. She has defended claims of corporate liability; negligent hiring, supervision and credentialing; and professional disciplinary matters before the New York Office of Professional Medical Conduct.  

Afaf is Certified in Health Care Compliance (CHC) by the Compliance Certification Board, and has represented physicians and surgical centers in claims of controlled substance violations before the DEA/DOH, and NY State Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement; New York hospitals in clinical trials; and served as a health care compliance auditor and consultant to physicians, out-patient surgical centers, health care providers, and insurance companies. She has also filed and argued cases before the New York State Appellate Courts.

Afaf was previously Of Counsel for two AMLAW 200 firms; in-house Claims Counsel in the Risk Management Department of a major New York State health care system; and a clinical hospital pharmacist.
